Government Affairs and Public Policy Intern

PS-engage Global Government Relations (PS-engage) is seeking talented Interns to support our APAC team, as well as the Secretariats for our industry associations in the field of government relations and public policy. We are a Singapore-registered company that focuses on constructive engagement activities, government relations consulting and establishing public and private partnerships. Our team works with world-class multinationals in the Information Communication Technology (ICT), e- commerce, electronic payments and financial industries, and has a vast network of specialist partners focused on trade, advocacy and constructive government engagement. Interns will get an opportunity to work with leading global technology players on key policy issues, and will support the team in driving regional initiatives.
Roles & Responsibilities
  • Conduct analysis on a wide variety of regulatory, economic, and political issues – particularly in the ICT space. Example tech issues include data privacy, digital tax, data localization, OTT, content regulation, cybersecurity, cross-border data flows, digital trade, platform regulation, tourism licensing, AI/ML, and Iot.
  • Develop research pieces on emerging political and economic trends for countries in the Asia-Pacific region.
  • Flag public policy consultations on ICT issues and support the team in providing relevant country specific insights.
  • Research support in developing policy maps for key industries, highlighting material policy and regulatory issues.
  • Research support in developing stakeholder maps for key influencers in government, academic and non-government agencies.
  • Attend meetings (online and sometimes in person) as needed and draft minutes of meetings.
  • Conduct desk research to produce high quality market intel reports on regulatory, market and economic trends.

 

Required Qualifications

  • You should have a degree in economics, public policy. law or political science and have a keen interest in public affairs. Prior experience working at a government relations firm would be considered an asset.
  • Experience working with stakeholders such as tax authorities, competition commission, privacy commissions, tourism authorities, chambers of commerce, and relevant ministries.
  • Experience working with multilaterals, bilateral and non-government agencies a plus.
  • Strong English writing and analytical skills, with proven knowledge of geo-political and economic issues in the Asia Pacific region.
  • Microsoft Office skills required.
